A couple of weeks ago we focused on the letter Pp. On that Friday we made pancakes and one of our students, Akyra read the story If You Give a Pig a Pancake. It was yummy fun!
Also that day Will earned a medal for completing his summer workbook! Go Will!
Each morning and several times a day our entire school stops what we are doing for “brain breaks”. We use “Move to Learn” for this. The students absolutely love doing these 5 minute exercises. Even the teachers enjoy doing them. We had the honor of Coach Calhoun (he is the man in all of the videos) visiting Sherman Avenue. It was so much fun exercising with him in person!

On October 1st our class participated in the music/art program. It was super cute! The music and decorations were fabulous but of course the children made it adorable! Our students were acorns and princess fairies. Here are a few pictures from our day!
So far this month we have celebrated two birthdays. We love birthdays and we always accept cupcakes or birthday treats if you wish to send them!
I have created a project on donorschoose.org. This is a great way for teachers to get fantastic teaching materials for their classrooms. The name of my project is “Math Interactive Smartboard Games”. We celebrated Johnny Appleseed’s birthday by learning all about apples. We made an art project and labeled the parts of an apple. All of the students brought in their favorite type of apple and we made a graph and analyzed the data. We also estimated how many seeds we thought were in one apple. Two students were very close! On Friday we read The Apple Pie Tree and followed a recipe to bake apple pies!
