I am a little behind on the blog so let’s catch up! In October we studied Fall and Pumpkins. We learned all about the different seasons and what happens to the trees in the Fall. We had a guest reader, Mrs. Koeppel. She read The Lorax and made some really cool “fall leaves” with the students. We hung them from our ceiling (and I keep forgetting to take a picture)!
We had a class pumpkin. We did many things with our pumpkin. First we wrote adjectives to describe our pumpkin on the outside. Then we cut a piece of yarn to estimate the circumference of the pumpkin. The students then had the chance to measure the pumpkin with their yarn. Most students cut the yarn too short! Another day we estimated how many seeds we thought were in the pumpkin and we cut it open. We wrote adjectives to describe the inside of the pumpkin and we counted ALL of the seeds!
During the week of Halloween we also had Red Ribbon Week. We wore different things throughout the week to show we are DRUG FREE! One day was silly sock day!
On Halloween Day the students were able to dress up in his/her favorite storybook character.
We ended the day with a fun Halloween Party! We even had “witches brew”!
